I've got a friend, :iconyrindale:, who's opened himself up for commissions, and his works are really beautiful and of great quality. He's a professional fantasy artist. It's your chance to get some custom art done for you by someone who has worked in the professional art scene! Please do look at it! It's really very good!

Please click here for commission information. He's in a tight spot right now so it'd be most appreciated if you could look at it, or perhaps spread the word.

I'm sorry,

Sat Oct 17, 2009, 6:44 PM
"you should just accept people's kindness because if you don't your hurting their feelings"

I think I need to well, clarify a few things... Firstly, I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings for saying, "no, thank you" to subscriptions or cash items.

I really didn't mean to hurt your feelings by declining a generous offer. I know it's kindness on people's part perhaps, but it's most uncomfortable to rely on others when it comes to the things I want.

It's wonderful if deviantART or Gaia are making money when people buy these things, but don't you think they're better off bought for people more deserving or wanting of it? For example a subscription would be really nice for a talented professional artist so they could get rid of ads, or perhaps a young deviant who doesn't have the money to buy one for themselves on Christmas.

I have come across a lot of journals wishing and wishing someone bought them a subscription. But people never do. It isn't fair that they don't get what they want, and I have it for nothing, is it? Premium products cost quite a penny and it wouldn't be very nice if I couldn't return a favor.

I have little brothers who rely on me as the eldest. I have parents who depend on me to make the right choices. Some of you might call it the "Watanuki-syndrome" or what have you but fact is, I've never been reliant on others at all. It's terribly, terribly hard to rely on strangers. You can pin it to my ego or anything really. I don't really mind, it's very much my fault after all.

This is a recurrent thing I think. I just wanted to say I'm sorry for hurting your feelings by rejecting your goodwill - for anyone. I know you meant well. You're good people. Many people are.

I'm sorry. Sometimes I don't really know what to feel. I'm prideful and egotistical I know, and it's not the male hormone that makes it that way. Maybe it's the way I'm wired, but I'm not very keen on trying to change it now, when I've got so many things to deal with. My pride and principles are all I have left. Without it I'd be nothing more but a doormat. I wouldn't be able to face the world, earn money to pay bills, buy my family some nice new things and a lovely dinner outside. Things are expensive nowadays.

You know, if you want to buy subscriptions and make someone happy and can't figure out who's asking for one, maybe I could try to collect a few of them who're simply begging for one? I see stamps and entries with "Buy me a subsciption" sometimes when I browse around. I could collect them and make a list for you if you want. Or if any of you right now really want one and are waiting for a donated subscription, you can comment here and maybe people will see it? I think you'll all be happy both ways? Thanks! :bug:

---------------------------

I recently got a call from a friend to not draw the cover for their comics anymore. It was a group decision.

In the beginning it was a very happy thing; their illustrator had no time to make the covers as well so I did stand-ins sometimes especially when he was very tired. I was also very happy, as I had no time to make full comics. They were very kind - although I was not very good they allowed me to stand in anyway. Since they were always separate booklets, it was not much of a problem.

It was alright until they got a complaint that the person who purchased it was "being misled". The drawings in the cover was very different from the content. It frustrated her very much. She wrote a very scathing email which I was forwarded sometime later.

I didn't really understand... I followed the character sheets that my friends gave me, and drew according to the theme they wanted. How could they have been misled, if it showed what the content was about? That's what I thought at first, but according to my friend they said the drawing style was very different. So the people who bought it for the cover were surprised and angry that the content was different-looking.

I think I can understand, in forums we see a title that doesn't match the post inside. I guess the drawing style makes a difference when it comes to a cover presented.

I am quite sad that I won't get a chance to work in a "team" anymore, but I guess something like that is a learning experience. Although I only sometimes stood in, it was bad enough to anger others. I thought I might share it with you, so as not to make a same mistake.

Thanks..

EDIT: The email just sounded very angry and severe, not that it cursed and swore. Some people just get more angry than others. But it had a point too, so let's learn from it. I'm probably just saying that to avoid these things, we shouldn't just join in.

---------

I have two younger brothers, the three of us don't look alike at all, nor do we sound the same or think alike, or have the same hobbies. The only time I've been mistaken for my younger brother was over the phone. But this morning something rather silly happened, much to my mother's amusement, so she told me about it.

She was having a good time sitting by and doing her darning, when I popped by, flipped the TV to a channel, glanced at it for five seconds, placed the remote by the blue mug (nearest object) before going away to tend to other things.

She thought nothing about it, but then my youngest brother comes by. He flipped the TV to a different channel, glanced at it for five seconds, and walked away presumably to his computer game. Of course, the remote was placed by the blue mug.

Some time later, my younger brother comes by. He did exactly the same thing as the two of us did, except a different channel. Then he goes away.

According to my mother, we stood in a very similar pose, hands on our hips and the other tapping the remote against the back of a chair. The fact that it had to happen 15 to 40 minutes apart from each other was to her, hilarious.

My dad wasn't very surprised to hear it though; apparently as kids we've done pretty similar things before. The three of us lugged a particular soft toy around - my younger brother a bear, my youngest brother a dog, and me a rabbit. We placed them under the crook of our necks and cradled them like babies.

Funny how siblings who're that different mirror certain aspects. :bug: DNA is a an odd thing!
