Hahaha, I edited this so it wouldn't look like a bawwfest. Well, it was, but I'm beginning to see the humor.
I saw today that somebody had made an icon from one of my older drawings without asking prior. I don't recall having made that icon. But I wasn't very sure if I should say it, because it didn't seem like the person using it on the forums knew; I saw it in my own thread. It was like a LiveJournal icon. The person who'd made that icon cropped out my signature. It was in a warped quality. It was reddened, and the colors are out. There was a very weird binder-book background that overshadowed the tiles.
But somehow, I recognized it as my own... I know, it's weird.
I think I understand how the Japanese fan artists feel, when they see their drawings posted along outside their sites, as deviant IDs, as forum signatures, as journal backgrounds. But hey, we do awful things ourselves. Not up to us to judge, I guess?
I'll let it off, because that's what a lot of us do, but I guess I wish I'd been told about it when we're fellow fans. Even if I'm not a real artist, I still made that picture with my own hands. It was an old picture, but I kept on looking at it. That's how big of a sod I am.
Nothing gets resolved just talking though. I think my signatures are too small like someone pointed out. Hilariously, the signature for the old picture was a big one. I should probably learn from this and put it right across the pictures next time.
If anyone wants an icon, they can ask for it. I can even add extra stuff to them. Some of them I can't make for, because these certain pictures are special to me.
What am I talking about? As long as something gets posted, it'll definitely get used; it's nobody's fault haha.

I'll take your advice and make it bigger; splash it right across. But I don't like doing that, it looks ridiculous.
For everyone who's using fan arts and drawings from the Internet in your profiles or anything, please think twice. Obviously it's our own conscience. It's been stupid, my whiny idiocy, but I'm sobering up now and presenting you more interesting discussions.
THREADS: Here are some interesting things that have been said in the journal itself. Please read them, if you have the time to.
A user who agrees that having your drawings taken and used without permission is good + explanation and uses - There is an addition that they would continue to do so (taking any art and posting them around in slide-shows and AMVs without permission). This is indeed an interesting train of thought. You may understand a different mindset through this comment. Good reading material.
A user who has some relevant ideas regarding watermarking and web representation of our own work. - I found this particularly useful and applicable. Anyone who is interested in watermarking may refer to her ideas. Also good reading material.

Fine, fine. I got rid of the McDonald's yaoi pic link.

Anything else, maaaster?
